Kunisada II Utagawa, 1823-1880    Pupil of Kunisada Utagawa
Kunisada II was a pupil of Kunisada. He signed his prints with Baido Kunimasa or Kunimasa III. He married his master's daughter in 1846 and took his master's name. After the death of Kunisada I, he started using the name of Toyokuni IV.

Description "Omokage Genji Gojuyo-jo" ("The Remembrance of Fifty-four Chapters from the Tale of Genji"). The drawing inside the fan-shaped inset was done by Hiroshige II. Chapter 1 : Kiritsubo.
Signature "Kochoro Kunisada" (bottom right) and "Rissho" (upper right: inset was done by Hiroshige II).
Dated 1864-65.
Publisher Tsutaya Kichizo.
Medium/Technique Woodblock print.
Impression Good ... Embossed patterns of shells and waves on background.
Colors Very good.
Condition Good ... Lightly soiled. Slight creases. Folds on the edges. Backed. Stain on the lower left. The left area is soiled.
