Ryohei Tanaka, born 1933 Tanaka Ryohei was born in Osaka prefecture. The artists's preferred technique is a combination of etching and aquatint. His prints show nature subjects and landscapes from the rural area around Kyoto in Japan in fine lines and subtle gradations of mostly black, gray, white and brown colors. Ryohei Tanaka is internationally recognized. His prints can be seen in large museums like the Achenbach Foundation in San Francisco or the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

Ryohei Tanaka is one of the leading etching artists in Japan. His delicate hands and eyes can produce fine, almost countless shades and textures with needle points. His etchings convey the soft, luminous looks seldom seen in this media.
The prints by Ryohei Tanaka are in the permanent collections of leading museums in the world such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Honolulu Academy of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Boston. David Rockefeller and the late US president Ronald Reagan were among the countless collectors of his prints.
