Asano Takeji was born in 1900 in Kyoto where he studied arts and crafts at the Kyoto School of painting with Tomikichiro Tokuriki. He became an active member of the sosaku hanga group in Kyoto. His favorite subjects were landscapes.

Sanzen-In temple surrounded by lush greenery in the early summer.
Sanzenin is a temple of the Tendai sect of Japanese Buddhism which was founded by Saicho in 804. It is one of very few "monzeki temples". The head priests of these temples used to be the members of the imperial family.
