Hiroaki Takahashi designed woodblock prints for the famous publisher Watanabe - about 500 prints before the great earthquake in September 1923. All blocks were destroyed by the fires in the aftermaths of the great earthquake. Afterwards he resumed his work and created about 250 prints. Hiroaki is said to have been killed by the atomic bomb when he visited his daughter in Hiroshima in August 1945.
