Ken Tagawa was a student of Koshiro Onchi. Before, he had studied at the Kawabata Painting School in Tokyo. The artist was active in the sosaku hanga movement. Subjects of many of his prints are scenes from Nagasaki, his hometown and place of birth. Ken Tagawa had received the prefectural cultural award of Nagasaki in 1956.
