Kuchi-e were popular woodblock prints made around 1895
to 1915 for the Japanese market. For a long time
neglected, they have become an interesting subject for
collectors and art friends. Helen Merrit's book
"Woodblock Kuchi-e Prints" published in 2000 has
played an important role in establishing kuchi-e as a
recognized art form.
