Japan Art Auction August 14, 2003
Dear art friends
Bidding for auction # 43 with 30 decorative Japanese
prints under the label "Atozuri and Fukkoku" is open at
www.artelino.com/auction/catalog.asp. At the same time
the preview for our "Chinese Print Tasting" auction # 44
has started with 20 Chinese prints by established
contemporary artists - limited editions, signed and
numbered.
"Atozuri" means late printing and "fukkoku" are
reproductions. This auction offers mainly late printings
from the original blocks by famous Shin Hanga artists
like Hasui Kawase or Toshi Yoshida, and Hiroshige copies
from 1919. These prints are hand-made using the same old
techniques. But they cost considerably less than their
earlier counterparts and have usually no condition
problems.
All Japanese prints have their charm. At
www.artelino.com/articles/japanese_print_impressions.asp
you find some information about this topic.
Best regards
your artelino team
