Tom Kristensen: 36 Views of Green Island - May 15, 2005
Dear friends of Japanese woodblock prints
Auction # 177 is open for bidding on www.artelino.com/auction/catalog.asp
It is a small but fine auction of 12 woodblock prints in
Japanese tradition by contemporary artist Tom Kristensen.
The auction will end coming Thursday, May 19 at 8:00 PM
local time (CET) = 2:00 PM in New York.
Tom Kristensen, born 1962, is a passionate ukiyo-e collector
and printmaker from Australia who works in typically
Japanese 'sosaku hanga' style: self-carved and self-printed
with natural Japanese pigments on hand-made washi paper.
Tom was first discovered by Eric van den Ing from
Saru Gallery - www.sarugallery.com, where Paul Binnie
was first introduced. This small auction will offer
the number ONE copies out of an edition of 25 (1/25)
of the first 12 woodblock prints so far completed by
Tom of the series '36 Views of Green Island'.
artelino is easy to find on search engines like Google.
But there are many other good web sites about Japanese
prints which you might not yet know, and which are worth
your visit. Here are two leading German ukiyo-e,
respectively Japanese art dealers.
One is the site of Heide Bücklein on http://www.japanese-prints.com/.
She manages to our knowledge the oldest ukiyo-e company in Germany.
It was established by her mother, Margot Lörcher, in 1961.
The company is strong in classical Edo prints and in surimono.
In Munich you find the "Galerie am Haus der Kunst", with
general Japanese art from Kimono to scrolls and ukiyo-e.
The web site presents a large number of Japanese prints
from all periods - see http://www.japankunst.de/index_e.htm
Enjoy the collection, and if you like our site,
please bid in our auctions and buy from us.
your artelino team
