Chinese Woodblocks, June 3, 2004
Dear friends of Chinese woodblock prints
Auction no. 106 is open on
www.artelino.com/auction/catalog.asp with 47 modern
Chinese prints. This time our selected artists come
from the city of Suzhou. Suzhou is a picturesque kind
of Venice in the south of Jiangsu Province with many
canals and old houses and a huge pagoda tower. The
Suzhou Art Institute is one of China's major
printmaking centers of today and has built up a
considerable reputation, also outside of China.
The Chinese artists that we offer are not any unknown
street artists. They are rather the cream of today's
printmakers in China. We offer you the artists that
Western museums and art institutions like the Muban
Foundation collect. And in cooperation with our
Chinese partner, we are basically capable of bringing
any artists into our auctions that you might miss.
Just let us know.
For those of you with an interest in modern Chinese
prints, we recommend a new book, published in
January this year: "Chinese Printmaking Today:
Woodblock Printing in China 1980-2000 by Anne Farrer."
Most of the prints featured in the book are in the
collections of the Muban Foundation, London, which
has the largest collection of Chinese prints in the
world.
Auction Calendar:
June 6-10: Chinese Artists from Suzhou
June 10-13: Shin Hanga Classic
June 13-17: Chinese Prints
June 17-20: Sosaku Hanga
kind regards and good luck
your artelino team
