China Woodblock Prints, July 25, 2004Dear art friends of Chinese woodblock prints The new auction of Chinese prints is open on www.artelino.com/auction/catalog.asp. It will close coming Thursday, July 29 at 8:00 PM local time (CET) = 2:00 PM in New York. We noticed that we have lively Chinese print auctions whenever we offer you artists and designs that we had never shown before - like lately Zhao Tianqui or Lu Chunhai. But bidding was rather quiet when we offered designs or artists that we had introduced before. This is a pity, because artists like Hao Ping, Hao Boyi, Chen Long, Chen Yuqiang or Yu Chengyou - to name just a few - are among today's Chinese top artists, and are not only collected by Chinese, but more and more by Western museums as well. OK - we will do both. We will try to present you at least once per month a new artist with new designs like Cheng Hsu coming in August. Plus we will present you something like a permanent collection of the "big guys", which we call "Chinese Print Tasting". Nomen est omen - the name says it all. We want to convince those of you who are still sceptical about Chinese prints, to give it a try. At a wine tasting party, you usually get something for free. Not so in our "Chinese Print Tasting" auctions. Prices will rather go up for Chinese prints - normal when you consider the current level, which is considerably below the prices for Western or Japanese contemporary prints. However we offer you free contents on our web site. The latest is an article about Chinese woodblock prints - by German painter and printmaker Eva Prietzcker from Berlin. She really knows what she is writing about. Eva Prietzcker studied woodblock printmaking in workshops in Japan and China - see www.artelino.com/articles/chinese-woodblock-prints.asp. kind regards and good luck your artelino team
