Massive DOS Attacks Continue.      Sunday, November 23, 2008

The internet service provider of the data center that hosts our artelino server has informed us that the massive DOS (Denial of Service) attacks that began last Friday do continue. For you this means that the artelino web site can become very slow from time to time. artelino is one of ca. 50,000 hosts affected. Sorry for the inconvenience. But this is beyond our control. Please do not wait with your bids until the very last seconds.

Due to the nature of our business, changes to our auction calendar are inevitable. We had to cancel the February E-hon auction, but could win consignments for 6 large new auction specials in March, April and May - one upper level Ukiyo-e only auction with focus on Hiroshige, an Easter auction special with 20th century artists from the Kyoto Circle like Tomikichiro, an auction exclusively devoted to works by contemporary Japanese printmakers, a Yoshitoshi - 100 Aspects of the Moon and two auction specials for Chinese Prints, presenting you artists from different provinces and academies.

artelino is listed by Yahoo on top of Most Popular for the category Posters and Prints -> Art Prints. Alexa/Amazon ranks us among the top 100.000 sites of the Internet and our server statistics show 8,000 sessions (many call it visitors - pure nonsense!) per day for our English web site alone.

The downside: more than 500 spam e-mails per day, misuse of our domain for e-mail spoofing. And we had to unplug our fax due to 24 hour fax spam.
