Qin Qiong is one of the popular door gods of Chinese legends and a favorite subject on folk art prints. According to the legend, general Qin Qiong together with general Jing De saved an emperor of the Tang Dynasty from being haunted by demons at night. When the emperor learned about their successful night watch, he ordered artists to paint their images on the front gates - one on each side. This is the origin of the popular door god prints that were pasted outside on the door gates to keep the bad spirits off. Qin Qiong is shown with a soft, white and typically Chinese face.
