The Chinese Qing Dynasty lasted from 1644 until 1911. During the Qing Dynasty China expanded its rule as far as Tibet, Mongolia, the Pamir mountains in Central Asia and Taiwan in the East. During the 19th century the Qing regime began to lose power and control of the country. Invasions from foreign Western countries weakened and humilitated the regime further until it was finally succeeded by the Republic of China.
