Toshogu is a complex of shrines and temples dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the last pacifier and unifier of Japan after Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The complex has a five-storied pagoda, which was built around 1650, destroyed in 1815 and rebuilt in 1818. The Toshogu complex is located in the town of Nikko.
