Machida Eimei, born 1959, is a self-taught print artist from Nagano Prefecture in Japan. In 2005 his woodblock print 'When we arrive at the Jupiter' was selected for the 50th anniversary of the prestigious print shows of CWAJ - the most important print exhibition for contemporary Japanese artists.

Eisen Tomioka, 1864-1905, was born in Nagano prefecture under the name of Hidetaro. He went to Tokyo to study drafting and was employed by the army as a civilian. Later he resigned from the army and became a full time illustrator. Most of his works were illustrations for newspapers, journals and books - called kuchi-e.

Eisen Ikeda, 1790-1848, was a pupil of Kikugawa Eizan. He can be considered a prolific artist. His favorite subjects were "bijin" (beautiful women), shunga prints (erotic prints) and landscapes. A later landscape series was started by Eisen and finished by Hiroshige when Eisen had a dispute with the publisher.

Daniel Kelly was born in 1947 in the state Idaho, U.S.A.. He went to Japan and became a student of master printmaker Timikichiro Tokuriki in Kyoto. Daniel Kelly has remained in Kyoto since then and has become a famous artist himself. He has worked in woodblock and in different mixed media techniques - usually in large sizes. Art works by Daniel Kelly have been collected by the Metropolitan Museum in New York, The British Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Smithsonian, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and The Allen Memorial Art Museum.

An Yumin, a male printmaker, was born in Mongolia in 1964. He works as a printmaker and as an illustrator for publishing companies. An Yumin's prints are kept in black and white and are usually huge. The young artist has received several prizes and awards in national Chinese art exhibitions since 2002. An Yumin is member of the Mongolia Artists Association (Autonomous region of Inner Mongolia).

Hokusai was entirely posessed by the art of Ukiyo-e and worked until his death. His greatest masterpieces are the 46 pictures of the 36 views of Mt. Fuji. It took him 10 years to complete this series. Hokusai was a prolific artist with about 30,000 different prints in all. Like the great composer Beethoven, he was a restless man. He changed his residence 93 times during his lifetime - according to his own biography.

Li Yanpeng was born in Hebei/China in 1958. Since he graduated from the National Academic Art College in 1981 he won a long series of prizes in National exhibitions. Li Yanpeng is one of today's most respected print artists in China. The artist works in woodblock technique, lately in woodblock reduction technique. His subjects are rural scenes from mountainous regions in China. His works are in many Chinese museums, but also in museums in Japan, the U.S.A., Holland and Korea. Li Yanpeng is one of the 60 selected artists, who are represented in the Muban Collection in London.

He Yongkun, born 1953, is an outstanding artist of the Yunnan School and a leading Chinese printmaker and painter. Over the last 20 years his artworks have been exhibited regularly at the prestigious national Chinese print and art exhibitions and have won several prizes. In 1998 the artist was awarded by Yunnan province government as an "Outstanding Professional". Recently several private galleries outside China (Italy, U.S.A.) have been preparing exhibitions of the artist's works.
