Cornelis van der Peet founded in 1953 his antiquarian bookshop in the Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 31-33. He specialized in books about non-European arts and due to his stay in Indonesia, books about that country became the main part of the firm. Soon he added China, Japan, South-East Asia and later Africa to the specialities.

Hotei Japanese Prints was established in 1982 and is now owned by Chris Uhlenbeck. It is located in Leiden, a city in the province of South Holland, Netherlands and sells Japanese woodblock prints, Japanese paintings, Japanese illustrated books from all periods and Japanese objects from the 1920's until the 1950's.

The Huys Den Esch Gallery was established in 1976 and has specialized in selling traditional Japanese woodblock prints since that time. It is located in Dodewaard, a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland in the eastern part of the centre of The Netherlands. The Huys Den Esch Gallery is offering especially prints from the 19th century, including Osaka prints, but early ukiyo-e and shin-hanga are represented as well.
