Tatsumi SHIMURA  -  1907-1980      Beauty and Fashion

Before World War II Tatsumi Shimura had worked for a woman fashion magazine. At the same time he was active as a painter and printmaker. In 1932 Tatsumi Shimura had contributed to the series "100 Views of Greater Tokyo". After the end of the war, the artist designed Bijin prints that were published by Kato Junzo. He was mainly a painter and only occasionally made prints. His preferred subject were images of beautiful and fashionable women.
