Hajime Okubo was born in Nagasaki prefecture. He studied printmaking with Kawanishi Hide and Western style painting at Osaka Nakanoshima Institute. He contributed his works to Shin-Hanga-shudan, Zokei-Hanga Kyokai. He worked as a teacher in Nagasaki after W.W.II.
