Shogo OKAMOTO  -  1920-2001

Shogo Okamoto was born in Tokyo and graduated from Tokyo Art College. He became a well-known member of the community of modern Japanese artists in the 60s and 70s with a series of prizes and one-man shows in Tokyo. The artist used etching as his preferred printing technique. Subjects are landscapes, especially depictions of trees. He shows them in a more realistic way and without the touch of beautified idealizations as other contemporary Japanese artists do. Okamoto's edition sizes are usually around 100.
