Masanobu OKUMURA  -  1686 - 1764      Early Edo

Masanobu Okumura studied ukiyo-e under Kiyonobu Torii but largely self-taught. He was a painter, print maker and publisher in one person. He was also very influencial in development of ukiyo-e because he was among the first artists who went from hand coloring to print coloring after the invention of multi-color printing in 1741. "Hashira-e" and "Uki-e" were also considered as Masanobu's inventions.
