Kuniaki II was a younger brother of Kuniaki Utagawa. He had learned ukiyo-e as a pupil of Kunisada. Kuniaki is best known for charming images of sumo wrestlers and for Yokohama prints (depictions of foreigners from the enclave of Yokohama). In his later years he made illustrations of the Meiji era industrialization of the country.
