Kan KOZAKI  -  born 1942

The style of Kan Kozaki's prints is very special. He shows simplified designs that look like they came from children's hands. What makes them interesting is the combination of the subject with a poem. The poems are written in Japanese characters and often quite funny, but due to the language barrier not quite easily accessible for Western eyes. Kan Kozaki is very well known in Japan. In 1983 he was commissioned a series "Gassho" commemorating the atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nagasaki has a museum devoted to his works. In 1988 Kan Kozaki started the series "Santoka". In 2001 he had an international solo exhibition showing his works in 6 cities in Germany and Switzerland.
