Gajin KOSAKA  -  1877-1953

Gajin Kosaka changed his artist names and his print styles several times in his life. In the beginning of his career his woodblock prints were influenced by Unichi Hiratsuka and kept mostly in black and white. His later works had more similarity to abstract painting. After world war II the artist was widely appreciated outside Japan with solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and Paris and retrospectives in Europe and the United States of America.
