Kokei KOBAYASHI  -  1883-1957      

Kokei Kobayashi was born in Niigata with the given name of Shigeru. He studied with Kajita Hanko and traveled in Europe from 1922 to 1923. Later he became a member of the Imperial Art Academy and the Imperial Household and was awarded with the Order of Cultural merits after world war II. Kokei Kobayashi is known for genre scenes and for bijin-ga - images of beautiful women.
