Gyokusho KAWABATA  -  1842-1914      

Gyokusho Kawabata was born in Kyoto. He studied traditional Shijo and Maruyama painting, but also Western style painting under Charles Wirman in Tokyo. In 1909, he established his own painting school from which Rofu Ochiai, Hitoshi Komatsu, etc, graduated.
