Kano school was a leading art school of the Kano clan and some artists adopted into the clan. Along with the Tosa School, it was the official art school of the court and the ruleing classes of Azuchi-Momoyama to Edo eras.
Artists in the Kano schoo devided the pictures linto two planes, and later into a single plane. The sharp out lines and the boldness of the brushwork were especially characteristic. They specialized in the large scale decorative art on screens and sliding panels.
