Waka ISHIDA  -  born 1922

Ishida Waka is practically unknown outside Japan. She is known in Japan as a painter and as a print artist. In the 70s and 80s she was primarily active as a print artist: in 1978 a book of her woodblock prints was published, and in the 1970s and 80s her work was regularly exhibited at the Takashimaya Department Store in Tokyo. The best carvers, printers and publishers were involved in the publication of her work. (biography from Saru Gallery).
