Shoichi Okubo (Ohkubo) was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture. While he was working for a bank, he invented "shisaiga" (paper colored printing). He became a executive member of Japan Artists Association in 1985. In 1991, he received the first prize of the Art Academy of "France Gakushi-in".
