Sho Taga was born in Hokkaido island. Although he studied Japanese traditional art, Nihon-ga, at the beginning, he turned his interests into woodblock printing in 1959. He also published a book "Mokuhanga Nyumon" (Introduction to Woodblock Printing) in 1977.
