Kosetsu Sakata was born in Kanazawa. His real name was Mansuke. After he became a student of Gekko Ogata, he specialized with figure drawings and paintings. Osaka Mainichi Shinbun (The Osaka Daily News) was one of the publications for which he contributed his illustrations. He was very active in the art field in the Osaka-Kansai area.
