Tatsuo TAKAYAMA  -  1912-2007      

Tatsuo Takayama was born in Oita prefecture, graduated from Tokyo Art College. His dynamic, new interpretations in Japanese traditional paintings brought him the illustrious career as artist as well as the memberships and awards from numerous organizations. His major works include a large screen painting depicting high priest Kukai, which was commissioned by Kongobu-ji, the main temple of Shingon sect of Buddhism, in Mt. Koya. He was honored the Order of Cultural Merit from Japanese government in 1982.
