Akira Nakano was born in Asahikawa on Hokkaido Island. When he read Tomikichiro Tokuriki's book on woodblock prints, he was so fascinated that he started to make his own prints. Since the 1970s the artist has been represented in many one-man and group exhibitions in Japan. Besides the traditional woodblock, Akira Nakano uses also the silkscreen technique.
