Show TOMITA  -  born 1939      First Woodblock Print at Age 47

Show Tomita was born in Tokyo. He had graduated at an engineering faculty of Nihon University and started a professional career in the music business. In 1986 he began to make woodblock prints as a self-trained hobby artist. When Tomita Show retired in 1999 from the music business, he could finally devote himself to a hundred percent to woodblock printmaking. Since 2001 he is an active member of Tokyo Hanga Kai (a woodblock study group) and is now frequently to be seen in woodblock exhibitions. An interesting second career!
