Kuman Mukai was born in Osaka. He graduated from the design department of Kyoto Art and Crafts College. After he left the studio of Japanese traditinal artist Suisho Nishiyama, he worked for Seiko-sha. He was very active in Nitten, Shin-bunten and estublished Sozo-bijutsu with Tomishiro Fukuda, Kyujin Yamamoto. He was specialized in the traditional bird-flower pictures, Buddhist pictures. Member of Soga-kai.
