Frances BLAKEMORE  -  1906-1997      

Frances Blakemore was an American artist living for more than 50 years in Japan. She worked not only as an artist, but she was also active as a Tokyo dealer in modern Japanese art. In 1975 she published the book 'Who is who in Modern Japanese Prints' with an index of 400 modern Japanese print artists. In 1990 she and her husband founded the Blakemore Foundation to promote greater understanding of Asian languages and art among Americans.
