André MASSON - 1896-1987
André Masson is a French painter and graphic artist born in Brussels. Like Chagall, he went to New York in 1941, returning to France in 1945. He was foreced to devote himself completely to graphic works since 1977 due to a physical disability. He was badly wounded as a soldier in World War I and never completely recovered from his injuries. His style is characterized by passionate expressionism and surrealism.
