Alexander ARCHIPENKO  -  1887-1964

Alexander Archipenko was born in Kiev in Russia. As so many other Russian born artists he went to Paris, where he worked with such artists as Amadeo Modigliani. He started his career with cubism and soon changed to abstract and semi-abstract figures. In 1921 he moved to Berlin and from there he emigrated to the USA in 1923. Here he found an art school in New York City and later in other US cities. He taught art classes at famous American universities (Kansas City, Washington, Delaware, Oregon).

Select by first name, for instance "H" for Hiroshige, Hokusai, Harunobu etc.
