Alfred DREUX DE - 1810-1860
Alfred de Dreux was born as the son of an architect. He soon became famous as a painter and printmaker of animals and genre scenes. In 1859 he received an order by the French Emperor Napoleon III for a portrait on horseback. In the course of a heavy dispute about this painting, he was killed in a duel.
