Kazutoshi SUGIURA  -  born 1938      Gold-gilted

Katzutoshi Sugiura was born in Kyoto, Japan. He had studied traditional Japanese painting at the Kyoto Municipal College of Fine Arts. His style is rather unique - images of flowers against a gold-leaf background. The technique which he uses is some kind of silk-screen and extremely elaborate and difficult to perform. The works of Katzutoshi Sugiura are in major museums like the British Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York or the Art Institute of Chicago.
