Shigeki Kuroda born 1953

Shigeki Kuroda was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture. In 1979 he graduated from Tama University of Fine Arts in Tokyo. The artist is famous for his subjects of bycycle riders with umbrellas. The bycycles are often depicted in blurred, multiple layers - thus giving the impression of speed. The artist uses a sophisticated mixed technique based on drypoint etching and aquatint. Several plates are required for one print. The works of Shigeki Kuroda are represented in renowned museums like the British Museum in London, the Cleveland Museum of Arts or the Achenbach Foundation in San Francisco.
