Shunsen Katsukawa was a pupil of Tsutsumi Torin III and later of Katsukawa Shunei, from whom he took the name of Katsukawa. He produced bijin (beautiful women), genre scene and landscape prints. In 1823 he gave up printmaking and became a porcelain decorator.
