Masaji YOSHIDA  -  1917-1971      

Masaji Yoshida was born in Wakayama prefecture. He had studied at Tokyo School of Fine Arts. After his graduation in 1942 he had to join the Japanese army, was wounded and became a POW. He returned to the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and became an art teacher. Works by Masaji Yoshida are influenced by sosaku hanga. The artist exhibited in the International print biennales of Lugano, Zürich, Krakow, Sao Paulo and Toyko after world war II. His sujects are usually non-figurative. Masaji Yoshida worked in woodblock, stencil and etching techniques.
