Shintaro YAMASHITA  -  1881-1966      

Shinataro Yamashita studied Western-style painting under Seiki Kuroda. From 1905-1907 he studied in France as quite a few of the young Japanese artists did at that time. In 1936 he was honored as an appointed member of the Imperial Fina Art Academy. Shintaro Yamashita created apart from paintings woodblock prints and lithographs after world war II. In 1955 he received the medal for cultural merits by the Japanese government.
