Kokunimasa Utagawa was the son of the artist Baido Hosai. Kokunimasa is mainly known for war prints of the Sino-Japanese war of 1894/1895 and the Russo-Japanese war of 1904/1905. He used the go Kokunimasa for the Sino-Japanese war prints and Ryukei for the Russo-Japanese war prints.
