Tasaburo Takahashi was a student of the painter and occasional printmaker Tsuchida Bakusen at the Kyoto Technical School of Painting. The artist had cooperated closely with Tomikichiro Tokuriki. In 1948 Tomikichiro Tokuriki, Tasaburo Takahashi, Kamei Tobei and Kotozuka Eiichi established a company named Koryokusha to publish their own Sosaku hanga. Koryokusha was financed by Matsukyu, a company owned by Tomikichiro Tokuriki. Tomikichiro's heart was with the self-carved and self-printed sosaku hanga prints. But he earned his money with his print designs in Shin Hanga style.
