Wen Mujiang, born 1970      from Hunan Province

The art prints by Wen Mujiang deal with the contrasts and cultural changes in today's China. The booming economy in the 1990s and at the beginning of the new millenium created rapid social and environmental changes that set in only twenty years after the end of the Cultural Revolution under Mao Zedong. Wen Mujiang's woodcut prints are interesting works of art and documents of today's China with a message.

It is based on a letter and photos that I have received by an artist and friend of mine who has lived in Songzhuang artist village for several years, and who has greatly helped to make artelino's first Grand Auction of Chinese paintings (Feb 12-19, 2012) possible.

July 2009: New Prints by Zhu Rui      Reduction Woodblock Prints.

July 2009: Mr. Zhu Rui has finished four new designs in reduction woodblock technique. Two new landscapes in large format in the style of designs like 'Dongchuan Impressions' and two smaller formats dealing with a different subject and in nearly abstract composition. It looks like Mr. Zhu Rui is testing new grounds.

Mr. Zhu Rui, born in 1970 in Siamo city, is a young printmaker of the second generation of what is today called the Yunnan Art School. The images on this page show Mr. Zhu Rui at work in his studio creating two new art prints. The snap shots give an insight into the specific Chinese way of producing woodblock prints, which is similar but also different from the techniques used by Japanese artists.

Zhu Rui, born 1970, is a young artist from Yunnan. His style is typical for the Yunnan Art School - thick oil-based inks, reduction woodblock prints and the influence of folk art of the ethnic minorites that can be found in the South of Yunnan province. In spite of his young age Zhu Rui has acquired the status of a leading Chinese artist. His art works are in several Chinese museums.

Ms. Mee Wong is an emerging artist and already a little famous in China. With exhibitions not only in China but in London, New York, Portland (USA) and Taiwan she may be already a bit too famous to be called an emerging artist. Anyway, if she continues her way she will soon be in the bright spotlight of art collectors and art critics. Because her art style is unique and touches everybody who has a feeling for real and well-made art.

Luo Guirong - Solo Exhibition      Prices quadrupled since 2007/2008.

On May 16, 2009 started a solo exhibition with art prints by Luo Guirong, born 1962, at Panorama Gallery in Hangzhou, China. Two of the prints shown were sold in our auctions in 2007 and 2008 for one quarter of today's gallery price. All other prints that we then sold by Luo Guirong are no longer available today.
