Description A man is cutting the rope which ties his colligue to a pillar. Red maple leaves are whirling in the air fanned by the strong wind.
Bungei Kurabu and other newly established publishers published popular literary magazines which were aimed for female readers in Meiji - Taisho era. The attractive frontispiece illustrations, "kuchi-e", by the leading ukiyo-e and Nihon-ga artists facilitated the sales of the magazines.
Seal Artist's seal (Toshikata).
Dated 1903.

Impression Excellent - very good.
Colors Very good.
Condition Very good ... Lightly toned. Slightly creased. Two vertical kuchi-e folds.
