Description "Moskwa gawa" ("Moscow River"). The brightly illuminated Kremelin, which was the symbol of the policital power of the Soviet Union, is towering over the dark city of Moscow.
Tadashige Ono was much influenced by the proletarian movement. Although he did not make any overt political statement, his harsh, dark city landscapes and objects amply expressed the anxiety and conflicts in the modern society.
Signature 'T. Ono' in the image. "Ono Tadashige" hand signed in sumi ink on the backing paper.
Dated 1964.
