Artist Gekko Ogata 1859-1920
Description "Hyaku Fuji" (One Hundred Mt. Fuji). "Youchi Soga" (Night Attack of Soga Brothers). Covered by the darkness of stormy night, the Soga brothers proceeded to accomplish their vendetta. They slipped into the hunting camp of their target, Kudo suketsune. The hunting was held at the foot of Mt. Fuji. But Soga Goro was held back by one of the enemies.
Fine dark "bokashi" to indicate the falling rain at night.

Seal Artist's seal.
Dated 1896.

Impression Excellent - Very good ... Early printing. Wood grains visible on the background.
Colors Very good ... Silver colored metallic pigment was oxidized. Mica lightly sprinkled.
