Kunihiro Amano is a leading Japanese artist of the second half of the 20th century. The designs of his woodblock prints are figural, semi-abstract or abstract compositions in geometrical or natural forms. Many of the artist's images have - more or less visible - sexual symbols integrated.

Associations

The artist is member of the Japanese Print Association and of Kokuga-kei.

Technique

Kunihiro Amano works in traditional woodblock technique. A typical edition size from the 1960s or 1970s is 50 copies, of later works 120 copies. Both, limited editions and open editions exist side by side.
